I thought I'd try uploading a photo or two now that the wonderful IT guy Thomas has configured my computer to work with the office wireless network. Yeah!!!
The first photo is of the Kariakoo Market area. The second, Swahili Street in Kariakoo in a moment when standing in the center of the street seemed unlikely to be life-threatening. The third is of my colleague, Sher-Ping as we had a lunch of street food (fabulous samosas, fried bananas, grilled beef kabobs). One of the physicians at the university said we must be very intrepid travelers to have gone to Kariakoo in our first days here. Maybe. It was fascinating. The photos don't come close to the sense of constantly moving/intersecting crowds of people, cars, motorcycles, men pulling carts, people carrying loads atop their heads, exotic (and not so exotic) smells, the carrying on of daily life.
